Referral marketing for oral surgeons
Oral surgeons grow by referral from general dentists, and not every general dentist sends surgery out. Leadaura lists every general dentist in your radius, reads each website for implants, extractions, wisdom teeth and bone grafting, and ranks the offices that send those cases out first, with who to ask for and how to reach them.
Who refers to oral surgeons
Your referrals come from general dentists. A Leadaura run pulls every one of them inside your radius (5 to 25 miles) and skips offices you already have from earlier runs.
You choose which offices to include: general dentists, family dentists, pediatric dentists, cosmetic practices, group practices.
What we check on each office's website
Each office's own website is read for the work oral surgeons take on: implants, extractions, wisdom teeth and bone grafting. The exact watch list for this specialty:
- dental implants
- tooth extractions
- wisdom teeth removal
- bone grafting
- oral surgery
A page that only says the office refers to a specialist does not count as doing the work in-house. When a website can't be read, the row says so instead of guessing.
Who to call first
| What their website shows | Where they land | What the row says |
|---|---|---|
| None of the work above | Call first | Their website doesn't mention implants or extractions. |
| Some of the work above | Lower priority | Their website lists implants or extractions, so they may keep surgery in-house. |
| Website could not be read | Unknown | We could not read their website, so we could not tell what they keep in-house. |
The ranking also rewards busier offices (five or more Google reviews in the last 90 days), offices with a newly licensed dentist or a new associate, independent practices over dental groups, and offices close to you. Each row tells you why it ranked where it did.
What each office comes with
- The owner dentist and, when we find them, the office manager, with their role
- A work email checked before it reaches you, and a direct line where one exists
- The office phone, address, website, Google rating and review count
- What they send out and what they keep in-house, from their own website
- An opener written from what we found, for the first call or visit
- A map of your radius and a visit route, plus a CSV for your coordinator
How to work the list
- Start with the call-first offices
These websites don't list implants or extractions, so the cases have to go somewhere. Make sure it's you.
- Ask for the office manager by name
They book referrals and lunches. Each row names them when we find them.
- Bring something useful
Referral pads, a direct line for their front desk, and same-week consult times for their patients.
- Report back on every case
A short note after the consult and after surgery keeps the next case coming.
The full playbook is in our guide to getting more referrals from general dentists.
Questions
Which general dentists refer to oral surgeons?
Mostly the ones that don't place implants or take out wisdom teeth themselves. A practice website that doesn't list implants, extractions or wisdom teeth is the clearest public signal, and a page that says they refer those cases to a specialist confirms it.
How do I find the general dentists near my oral surgery practice?
Free directories such as the ADA's Find-a-Dentist and the NPI registry give you names and addresses. Leadaura adds what they don't: which offices send surgery out, who decides, and a checked email and direct line, ranked by who's likeliest to refer.
What if a general dentist already places implants?
They move down your list, not off it. Many offices that place routine implants still refer complex cases, bone grafts or third molars, so the row shows exactly what their website lists.
How much does it cost?
